The Review:
Have you ever picked up a bottle of liquor and realized
instinctively that you really should have put it down and kept
on searching? I haven't.
Sometimes that leads me to great and wonderful cheap discoveries
like Three Palm Spiced rum, but more often than not it leads me
to places like Admiral Nelson Dark Premium Rum.
I have always had great respect for those in the marketing
fields and would never think to recommend a campaign from the
sidelines, but Admiral Nelson Dark Premium Rum is precisely the
kind of rum I think they should sell as part of a combo meal at
Long John Silvers.
The bottle itself is plastic, the kind of plastic that one might
expect from a liter sized soda bottle but with a feel of mass
production commonly reserved for off-brand batteries.
Cracking open the seal, the aroma that greets you is solid
alcohol - no undertones, no flavorful backbone to reflect
within.
Initially we attempted Admiral Nelson Dark Premium Rum neat,
then over ice, then as part of a rum based old-fashioned, and
then finally as part of a daiquiri. Each was progressively
less harsh, but none were what I would consider rewarding.
