The Heaving line knot can be used to add weight
to the end
of the rope to give mass to it when you want to throw it.

Form a bight. |

Start making turns, taking the end behind the standing
part and wrapping it around the bight. |

Make several turns. |

Step #4 |
Insert the end through the loop. |
